Opening the Case
Note: This will void your warranty! There is a tiny sticker on the bottom hex screw that informs you of this.
Tools Needed
3/32 inch or 2.3mm hex driver
Spudger
Cross-head screwdriver (if you want to remove the PCB from the case)
Steps to Open Up
Instructions | Images |
---|---|
1. Gather items to begin disassembly and use a flat, clear surface. | |
2. Begin by using a spudger to gently pry the top panel off. Be gentle as it is very thin plastic at high risk of bending or breaking. | |
3. Remove the top hex screws. | |
4. Flip over the router and remove the bottom/wall mount piece. This comes off easily and is covered better in the user manual. | |
5. Remove the two obvious hex screws. Note that one may have the sticker over it saying “Void Warranty” | |
6. There are two more hex screws buried in the side body. Remove these as well. | |
7. Flip it on its side and confirm that the top panel and bottom stand/mount are removed as well as six hex screws. | |
8. With a little force, pulling downward, away from the main body, remove the bottom. | |
9. Grabbing hold of the gray plastic exposed from the previous and while firmly depressing the power switch (circled in red in the previous step's picture), pull the main body plastic upward towards the top. Be very careful when doing this! As you can see from the picture, the power toggle is very fragile and mine snapped off. The device still turns on but if you break it, the only way to force reboot is to cut power to it. | |
10. The body is now apart and the UART is now apparent. For further disassembly, use a cross head screwdriver. |
