Dina is the deuteragonist of Ellie's story in The Last of Us Part II and is also Ellie's partner.
The Last of Us is an American post-apocalyptic drama series that premiered in January 2023. The show is based on the 2013 video game The Last of Us which was created by Naughty Dog and revolves around Joel and Ellie in a world where a mass fungal infection causes its hosts to transform into zombie-like creatures. The series became an instant critical hit and fan favorite upon its release, winning eight Primetime Emmy Awards out of 24 nominations. Not only that, it became HBO’s most-watched debut season by the time the final episode of season 1 aired, and season 2 is set to premiere in April 2025.
Who is Dina in The Last of Us?
In The Last of Us Part II, Dina is Ellie’s love interest and Jesse’s ex-girlfriend, who meets Ellie soon after she and Joel move to Jackson and live in the community under Maria’s leadership. In the Naughty Dog video game, The Last of Us Part II, Dina and Ellie begin dating a few days after Dina and Jesse end their relationship, just before the start of major events within the game. Dina then helps Ellie out following several events although it is unclear what role the television series will give Dina as of March 2025.

As per Deadline, Isabela Merced is set to portray Dina in the second season of The Last of Us. Born on July 10th, 2001, the American actress is best known for her role in the Nickelodeon television series 100 Things to Do Before High School and Transformers: The Last Knight. Beyond that, she has also starred in Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Father of the Bride, Rosaline, Alien: Romulus, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and more.
