As many as 35 players used this summer'sEuropean Championshipto increase their market value, with their performances on the big stage shining through and earning them a rise. Six of those players lifted the trophy into the Berlin night sky on Sunday evening, with the squad of European championsSpain increasing by +€70 million in total. That takes the Spain squad value over the billion mark to around €1.04b. Unsurprisingly, the biggest increase of all Euro 2024 participants goes to the teenage sensation Lamine Yamal. The tricky winger turned 17 last week in the run up to the final and defied his youth once again on the biggest stage, providing the assist forNico Williams' opening goal. He now, having only just hit 17 years of age, has a new market value of €120m - +€30m from his previous value of €90m.
After a fabulous club season, the best young player of the tournament, Yamal, is the first player under 19 years of age to break the €100m mark in the entire history of Transfermarkt market values, which have been recorded since 2004. After his 16th birthday almost exactly a year ago, theBarcelona talent entered the league with a record market value of €25m, and after the Euro 2024 triumph, his value is continuing to soar. "Yamal was a household name for most football fans, but now the whole world knows him. Best young player of the tournament, top assister in the entire tournament. At 17 years old, he has broken a number of records and made a decisive contribution to the European Championship title, especially in the semi-finals and the final," says Tobias Blaseio, market value admin for Spain at Transfermarkt, explaining the renewed increase.
Rodri among other Spanish players rising
The trio of Euro 2024 player of the tournamentRodri, Athletic Club'sWilliams and RB Leipzig'sDani Olmo all saw their market values rise by +€10m. Rodri now is the most valuable holding midfielder in world football at €120m, leaving England and Arsenal'sDeclan Rice behind on €110m. Williams now boasts a value of €70m, making him the fifth most valuable left-winger in the world. Olmo rises to a €60m market value. Two Spanish players who surprised many people with their superb tournaments after fairly underwhelming club seasons were midfielderFabián Ruiz and left-back Marc Cucurella- they both rise by +€5m taking their market values to €35m and €30m respectively.
"Rodri is Spain's most valuable player in history, beating his own record he already held at €110m. Alongside Álvaro Morata, he has once again emerged as the clear leader of the Furia Roja and carried the team on his shoulders throughout the tournament. He took on the role ofSergio Busquets in midfield. Great modesty on and off the pitch, exquisite quality, control and calm are the trademarks of the most reliable player of the entire Euros. He should be one of the favourites for the Ballon d'Or, as should some other Spaniards such as Dani Carvajal. It has been 64 years since a Spaniard won its first and last Ballon d'Or, despite the five trophies the team has won since 2008,” says Iván Turmo, Transfermarkt Area Manager Spain, about Rodri & Co.

Kobbie Mainoo England's only winner
Despite making it all the way to the final of the competition, only one member of the England squad for Euro 2024 saw his market value increase. Teenage sensationKobbie Mainoo went into the tournament as the player with the least senior minutes under his belt across the squads from all 24 nations. He wasn't a starter in the groups, but forced his way into the team for the knockout stages, and showed composure beyond his years, as he became one of the standout performers in the Three Lions's run to the final in Berlin. The Manchester United midfielder subsequently see's his market value increase by +€5m to a new figure of €55m. The rise makes Mainoo the fifth most valuable teenager in world football, and Man United's fourth most valuable player.

Why players will only be upgraded in the market value update after Euro 2024
Artjom Zavodnyk, Transfermarkt coordinator for market values and international operations, explains why there are only upgrades: "The European Championship is a showcase for players to attract the eyes of the world. Therefore, only footballers who were able to significantly improve their status during the tournament and/or who played their way into the international spotlight were considered, which ultimately leads to increased interest on the transfer market. For example, Kylian Mbappé is no less important in world football. But Lamine Yamal has a different standing after the tournament than before."
How the transfer market values work
The transfer market values are calculated taking into account various pricing models and a strong involvement of the transfer market community, which deals with the values in detailed discussions. The transfer market values are not to be equated with the transfer fees actually paid.
The aim is not to predict a price, but an expected value. When determining the market value, both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant to a certain extent. Examples of this are givenhere. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (for the detailed market value definition).
